Terrace Bay Lighthouse

The lighthouse is a 4-storey steel frame structure with internal steel stairs, a concrete and stone foundation and a landscaped base with public areas. This self-interpreted reproduction of the existing State Island Lighthouse allows visitors to climb up internal stairs to an observation deck at the level of the navigation light. The attraction scale is designed to pull the visitors off the highway, introducing them to the services of the newly re-developed commercial downtown core. The attraction is lit at night with efficient LED lighting, which makes this a beacon for the new downtown. In its first summer of operation an incredible 3,000 visitors were logged by the automatic gate counter.
